Disbursement Assistance
Disbursement assistance is available to support certain pro bono legal work. The nature of the assistance available varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. On 1 July 2012 the Commonwealth changed its legal financial assistance schemes and introduced a new Disbursement Support Scheme that aims to provide financial support for pro bono work in Commonwealth law matters.
Details of all Comonwealth, State and Territory disbursement and litigation assistance schemes, with links to application forms, can be found in Section 4.5 of the Australian Pro Bono Manual.
Court and Tribunal fee waiver guides
The NSW, Queensland and Victoria PILCHs have each published Court and Tribunal fee waiver guides for their jurisdictions which include details for Commonwealth courts and include application forms for most courts and tribunals. Only the Qld and NSW guides remain online. See actual guide for when it was last updated.
